This weekend marks the second week of competitions in Michigan.  Scholastic competition is starting to take off with five contests this weekend, while MCBA has one show, and our local BOA Regional is taking place on the campus of the University of Toledo. This regional is returning to Toledo for the first time since 2002 after alternating between The Pontiac Silverdome and Eastern Michigan University. The Silverdome wasn’t an option this year since currently doesn’t have a dome…..

Knight Time Classic

The 28th Annual Kenowa Hills Knight Time Classic begins at 9:30 AM with its opening ceremonies. We’re exceptionally excited for this contest, particularly due to the Class A attendees. The Class A competition, while only featuring four bands, includes two scholastic powerhouse bands (Petoskey and Portage Central) and two bands with strong histories in MCBA (Hudsonville and Stevensville Lakeshore).  Interestingly enough, while only two bands are current MCBA members, all four have participated in MCBA.  In fact, there are seven state championships among the four bands (Lakeshore 3; Hudsonville and Petoskey 2 each).  Needless to say, these programs all tend to attract a crowd and bring rather large entourages with them.  We encourage you to arrive early to get a good seat!

Finalists will also be announced. The top 10 placing bands, regardless of class, will move onto the evening’s Finals competition. Any Class Champion who does not qualify for finals based on score will perform in exhibition during the Finals competition.

Gates for finals will open at 6:45 PM, with the first Finalist Band performing at 7:45 PM. This contest will end around 10:15 PM.

A schedule for Finals will not be available until after Preliminary competition; we will try to update our social media with this information once it is announced.

Please Note: As this event is on a College Campus, parking may be less than ideal. There is a parking lot near the stadium; however, if this fills quickly, you may have to park across campus and walk. Plan your time accordingly. There should be directional signs to assist you with way-finding.

Will you be attending this event? If you buy a program, please take some time after the competition to send us band show titles and competition scores. We, unfortunately, cannot attend every event and your submissions ensure a more complete experience and record of Michigan’s competitive marching bands.
