Lamphere

Lamphere is the first scored MCBA contest of the season. After an interesting first-weekend last year when MCBA introduced a new scoring system, we’re curious to see what this weekend will hold in store for the circuit. 12 bands will be performing at Lamphere’s competition, located at 610 West 13 Mile Road in Madison Heights MI, 48071. Click here for more information.

BOA Bowling Green

Five Michigan Bands are heading to Ohio on Saturday for the BOA Bowling Green Regional. Rockford, Walled Lake Central, Plymouth-Canton, Jenison, and Lake Orion will be competing against 14 bands in prelims. The top ten scoring bands, regardless of class, will advance to the evening’s Finals competition. We’ll try to keep you updated on who makes Finals at this event on our social media sites when we know. The announcement of Prelims awards plus Finals qualifiers is scheduled for 4:45PM, after the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band exhibition performance.

This competition is located at Perry Stadium on Bowling Green State University’s campus. The address is 1600 Stadium Dr., Bowling Green, OH 43403. Click here for more information.

Penn Kingsmen Carnival of Bands

Edwardsburg is venturing south into Indiana to compete at Penn High School, in Mishawaka, IN (56100 Bittersweet Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545). While this might seem odd, it makes perfect sense. Edwardsburg is located 6 miles from Penn, which is south across the Michigan-Indiana state line.

Indiana’s competitions are similar to MCBA, in that bands are placed into arbitrary groupings based on school size. While MCBA uses “Flight” to designate grouping, Indiana uses “Class.” Edwardsburg will be competing in Class C, which equates to the school sizes of MCBA’s Flight III. 36 bands will be at this event, which begins at 12:59 PM. Indiana uses 13 minute performance blocks.

If you’re heading south to see Edwardsburg, we want to warn you: most of the event parking is located at Schmucker Middle School, located across Bittersweet Rd from Penn High School. Edwardsburg 3:35 PM. Click for more information.
