This Saturday marks the conclusion of the Scholastic competition season, with Brandon, East Kentwood, and Jenison taking place. Additionally, Jenison, Troy Athens and Clarkston host MCBA competitions.
Ortonville Brandon
Sixteen bands will be performing in competition at Brandon this Saturday. Competition begins at 10:30AM. Awards for Classes C, B, and AA will be at 1:00PM. Class A competes after, with host Brandon performing at 3:15. Awards for Class A will be 3:45PM.
Brandon is located at 1025 S. Ortonville Road, Ortonville, MI 48462. See the schedule here.
East Kentwood
The largest Scholastic competition this weekend, East Kentwood hosts nineteen bands. Competition begins at 2:30PM. Plenty of breaks are throughout the competition, and Awards for All Classes (8:45) will follow East Kentwood’s 8:30PM exhibition.
East Kentwood High School is located at 6230 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. See the lineup here.
Jenison
The largest single-site competition event in the regular competition season, Jenison hosts 41 bands in competition today. This competition does feature both Scholastic and MCBA events.
Scholastic competition begins early, at 8:45AM with a band new to competition: Stanton Central Montcalm. On behalf of the marching community, we want to welcome them to competition! Class C awards will be at 10:45AM. Competition continues immediately (11:00), and awards for Class A and B (1:45) follow Jenison’s exhibition performance (1:30PM).
MCBA competition begins with Flight IV at 2:30PM. Awards for Flight IV will be at 5:45. Competition resumes with Flight III immediately, at 6:00. Awards for Flight III, I, and II will be at 9:45PM (Jenison performs again in exhibition at 9:30).
Due to the scope of this contest, parking will fill quickly. Jenison’s parking lot is a decent pace away from the stadium, so ensure an early arrival to find parking, and allow transit time, to not miss your band’s performance. Whatever the circumstances, certain awards ceremonies (Class C, and Flight IV) are within breaks; it is advised that fans of the bands immediately after the awards arrive early for seats. If the band following the break is ready to begin and you intend on leaving, please consider waiting and watching at least the next band — no band deserves a rush of fans entering/leaving the stadium. The longest a show will be is 11 minutes; you’ll be able to leave soon enough!
Tickets are $8 for Adults, $6 for Students and Seniors. Find Jenison at 2140 Bauer Road, Jenison, MI 49428. See the full schedule here.
Clarkston
Clarkston hosts sixteen bands in competition this Saturday. This event opens at 3:30PM.
Flight IV Awards will occur at 5:30PM. Competition resumes after a short break, and Awards for Flights II and I will be at 9:30PM. Clarkston performs in exhibition at 9:15.
Tickets are $8 for Adults, $6 for Students and Seniors. Find Clarkston at 6093 Flemings Lake Road, Clarkston, MI 48346. See the full schedule here.
Troy Athens
Eleven bands will be joining Athens this Saturday in Troy. Competition begins at 6:00PM. Troy Athens performs in exhibition at 9:00PM. Awards for all represented flights will be at 9:30PM.
Tickets are $8 for Adults, $6 for Students and Seniors. Find Athens High School at 4333 John R. Road
Troy, MI 48085. See the full schedule here.
We want to wish the best of luck to all competing bands this weekend. For many, this is the last weekend of competition. For fewer, it’s the beginning of the final push to the coveted State competition. Like Kalamazoo Central (below), let’s make the last push a great one!
(Thank you to all our friends who have helped provide shows and scores this season! Once again, we cannot be at everything – so please help us out and send those scores in!)
