This Saturday, six contests are happenings across the state. This weekend also marks the half-way point of the Michigan-based marching season, and is the first weekend we will see an official CAS chart for MCBA bands.

 

Alma College

Alma College hosts its annual competition, starting at 1:00 PM. The address for Bahlke Stadium is: 614 W. Superior St., Alma, MI 48801. As this event is on a college campus, it is advisable to arrive extra-early, as parking may not be as easily accessible as one may hope.

10 bands are performing in competition. The Alma College Pipe Band performs in exhibition at 2:20PM, prior to Class D and C awards. The Alma College Kiltie Marching Band will perform at 5:05PM, prior to Class B and A awards. Click here for more information.

 

DeWitt

DeWitt hosts their annual competition this Saturday, and it begins at 2:40PM. DeWitt is located at 13601 Panther Dr., DeWitt, MI 48820. 14 bands will be in performing in competition, with Fowler in judged exhibition at 2:45PM, and DeWitt performing in exhibition at 6:45PM. Linden

Linden’s competition starts at 4:00 PM this Saturday, at 7201 Silver Lake Road, in Linden, MI 48451. 5 bands will be in competition, and Linden performs in exhibition at 5:30 PM. Awards follow a brief break, and occur at 6:00 PM. Click for more information.

 

Grandville

In what feels like a first (it’s a first I can remember, anyway), Grandville is hosting an afternoon/evening competition this year. This competition wins the “most-attended” superlative award this weekend, with 19 bands in competition. The event begins at 3:00 PM. Awards for Class D and C will be at 5:45PM. Following these awards is an hour lunch break.

Competition resumes at 7:00PM. Grandville performs in exhibition at 09:45PM, with awards for Class B, A, and AA following (10:00 PM).

Grandville High School is located at 4700 Canal Avenue SW, Grandville, MI 49418.

Admission prices: Adults – $8; Students/Seniors – $6; Children 5 or less – Free. Family ticket (max 2 adults) – $24. Programs – $2 each.

PLEASE NOTE: The Canal Avenue address is used for busses and equipment vehicles at this contest. Grandville kindly asks that spectators use the Wilson Avenue entrance, located next to Costco. The Costco address (for GPS purposes) is 4901 Wilson Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49418.

Grant

Grant hosts their MCBA competition this Saturday. This competition is located at the middle school, whose address is 96 E. 120th St., Grant, MI 49327. 10 bands are performing. The contest begins at 6:00 PM with Flight IV. Grant performs in exhibition at the end of their flight, at 7:00 PM. Flights I, II, and III follow. Awards for all Flights will be at 9:00 PM. Tickets cost $8 for adults, and $6 for students and seniors. Click here for more information.

 

Troy Athens

The second largest competition this Saturday, Troy Athens High School is hosting 16 bands. The contest begins at 3:45 PM. The High School is located at 4333 John R. Road, Troy, MI 48085. Awards for Flights IV, III, and II will be at 6:45 PM. Flight I begins at 7:30 PM. Troy Athens performs in exhibition at 9:00 PM. Flight I awards follow, at 9:30 PM. Click here for more information.
