BOA Pontiac Preview

We’re doing the preview for Pontiac a little differently than you might already be accustomed to. Our BOA Pontiac Competition Page has a very in-depth description of how the day will work, so we won’t be going fully into details about that again here.

BOA Pontiac is a BOA Regional Competition hosted at The Silverdome, which is comprised of a Preliminary and Finals competition. Any band is eligible to compete in this competition, regardless of State or competitive circuit. Bands that sign up for the competition are ordered in a first-come, first-serve arrangement, with all classes (BOA uses 4) competing against one another. Classes are used, in Prelims only, to award Placement and Caption Awards for Classes. Receiving or not receiving any awards during Prelims does not affect the band’s ability to perform in Finals. Finalists are determined solely based on score, ignoring class; the 10 Bands with the highest scores will be asked to perform in Finals. Should a Class Champion not advance into finals based on their score, they will be asked to perform in Exhibition during the Finals ceremony.

During Finals, the 10 competing bands will once again perform, being judged and compared against each other. This new round of judging will determine the Placement and Caption Awards of Finals.

Tickets for this event are $17 for Prelims, $17 for Finals, or $26 for an All Day Pass. Parking costs $10, with in and out privileges.

The Stadium Opens at 9:45 AM for Preliminary Competition, with the competition beginning at 10:30 AM. Prelims will conclude with Awards at 4:30 PM. The Stadium will be cleared and will reopen at 6:45 PM for Finals Competition. Opening Ceremonies for Finals will take place at 7:15, with the first competing finalist performing at 7:45. Awards for Finals will be at 10:30 PM.

Due to the nature of this event, a schedule for Finals will not be available until 4:30 PM on Saturday. We will update our Social Media pages with this content.

The Silverdome is located 1200 Featherstone Road in Pontiac. Entry for Spectator Parking is at Gate 5 off of Featherstone. The box office and spectator entrance is at the West Gate.

To provide you the opportunity to become a little more familiar with the Out-of-State Bands attending Pontiac, we’ve taken the time to try to find some videos of their performances. We could not find 2012 Videos for: Crestwood (OH), Munster (IN) [2011], or Lockport Township (IL) [2011].
