Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls: It’s that time of year again. School just began Tuesday, and the marching season kicks off tomorrow. While competition does not start until Saturday, September 17, multiple bands will take to fields this weekend to perform their shows in judged exhibitions.
Wayne Memorial Scholastic Clinic
The Wayne Memorial Scholastic Clinic starts at 11:00 AM this Saturday. Each participating band receives a 40 minute time block to perform their show and receive feedback and clinics. A band may choose to perform more than once. Five judges will be on hand to assess each of the seven programs. Admission is required; ticket prices are $8 for adults, and $5 for students and seniors. Learn more about the clinic, including address and directions, here.
Participating bands, in order, include:
- Westland John Glenn
- Dearborn Heights Crestwood
- Gibraltar Carlson
- Livonia Churchill
- Livonia Stevenson
- Blissfield
- Wayne Memorial
MCBA Field Day East
While we’re not certain if this is the event’s official title, we are deeming the first of two MCBA Field Days as “MCBA Field Day East” (and have been updating the website history to reflect this). This Field Day is hosted at West Bloomfield this year, and like the Scholastic Clinic, will feature numerous judges on-hand to assess each participating program. Seven programs will be in attendance, and this event begins at 4:00 PM. While we have not received official confirmation of performance times, we have presented our best-guess estimate of the time schedule. We anticipate an admission fee; likely $8 for adults. Learn more about this clinic, including address and directions, here.
Participating bands, in order, include:
- Saint Clair Shores South Lake
- Linden
- Highland Milford
- White Lake Lakeland
- South Lyon
- Marysville
- West Bloomfield
We want to wish these 14 bands the best of luck as they take to the field for their exhibition performances this weekend.
As always, it is impossible for us to be at every event – if you read this and are in attendance, please let us know how the day went. Was there a program? If so, can you please take a few moments to send us band information? Even if it’s just your show, it helps us greatly!
Additionally, I will admit that I dropped the ball on updating information last year. We’ve been working diligently this summer (and especially this week, and are continuing to do such) to ensure that all 2015 information is added. Running this site could be a full-time job!
As we are actively updating content, now is a great time to ensure that we have your 2016 show information and competition schedule. Submit your show and schedule here.
