Saturday, September 8 marks the first organized marching event of the 2012 fall season. The MCBA Field Day, hosted at South Lyon High School, is a judged exhibition “workshop” performance. MCBA judges will get a chance to practice their judging skills or get trained in the circuit, and participating bands will receive real-time critiques and workshops with judges.
Each band is allotted 30 minutes and may perform as much or as little of their show as desired. Once their initial performance is completed, sections will meet with caption judges to discuss the performance. Taking the instant feedback into consideration, the band may perform again after the critique.
This year, six bands are participating in Field Day. Here they are listed in order of performance with their 2012 show title (as known to us):
- South Lake (2:00 PM) – Show Title TBA
- Lakeland (2:30) – Show Title TBA
- Carman-Ainsworth (3:00) – Journey into Darkness
- West Bloomfield (3:30) – That’s A Stretch
- Milford (4:30) – BluePrints
- South Lyon (5:00) – To Boldly Go
There is a 30 minute break at 4:00 PM. Tickets for Field Day are $4 for adults and $2 for students.
South Lyon High is located at 1000 N. Lafayette St., in South Lyon.
