Michigan Band Prelims Performance Times (As of 10/17/22)

Thursday 11/10:

3:45 PM – Plymouth-Canton (Panel 1 – AAAA)

8:00 PM – Jenison (Panel 2 – AA)

Friday 11/11:

7:30 AM – DeWitt (Panel 1 – AA)

9:30 AM – Huron Valley (Panel 1 – AAAA)

5:00 PM – Muskegon Reeths-Puffer (Panel 1 – AA)

Semifinals on 11/12:

Semi-finalists will be announced at the end of competition on Friday. Judging panels alternate between prelims performance blocks. The top 11 bands from judging panel 1 and the top 11 bands from judging panel 2 and the next 8 highest scoring bands regardless of panel advance to semifinals. A minimum of two bands from each class of competition (A, AA, AAA, and AAAA) from each judging panel must advance to finals. Should those bands not be among the top 11 or next 8, class advancers will be named to complete representation.

Performances will begin at approximately 7:00 am, with the time being determined on Friday based on the number of bands that advance to semifinals (a minimum of 30 if no class-advancing bands are required). The top 3 bands in each class of competition and caption awards will be announced at the conclusion of semifinals performances. The top 12 bands, regardless of class, will be announced as finalist bands. Class champions (should they not be among the top 12) will be invited to perform in exhibition.

Finals on 11/12:

Finals opening ceremonies begin at 7:00 pm followed by class exhibition performances (if required). The first finalist band takes the field at 8:00pm.
